Appreciation:

Late Mr.Samithamby  Vyramuthu (C T B).

“Late Mr.Samithamby Vyramuthu mama, during his childhood & before marriage, was living opposite to the house where “Swami Vipulananda” was living. He had the golden opportunity to see Swami Vipulananda, Scholars, Hindu Priests, Teachers and other educated people. He was one of the sons of Late Mr. & Mrs. Samithamby, a very simple & respectable couple and educated at Ramaksighna Mission (RKM) boys’ School, next to his house.  Late Mr. Vyramuthu joined the Ceylon Transport -Board (C T B) and really sacrificed his life with regular work schedule, time with family, and even his own health after years of service to support people in the community as public transportation professional. He took extra time to help people with disabilities in a manner that was courteous and made everyone feel respected.  He used to watch the body language of intending passengers to see if they need questions answered or to offer advice to simplify their trip and broke the rules from time to time to provide quality customer service in dealing with conditions that the rules don’t allow for.  This can include planning courtesy stops, around unplanned obstacles, dealing with adverse conditions like flood, unrest between communities in the neighbourhood etc.

Fortunately I had the opportunity in associating with him during my childhood because I was living in Swami Vipulananda’s house. Late Mr. Vyramuthu mama used to play and carried me along our lane. He was a very silent, simple gentleman, respected & loved by all for his selfless service in providing transport in his car, to sick & needy without any hesitation. As a father he loved his children very much and gave them better education etc. He was in United Kingdom and spent memorable moments with one of his daughters & family few months before his sudden death. The untimely death of one of his daughters during Tsunami had shaken him and because of his will power he lived up to this time. Whenever I go to my village, I always made it a point to visit him at his residence where my cousin brother & his son in law, Mr.Nanthakumar & family live. He left behind pleasant childhood memories in my heart, which I will remember forever.

“May His Soul Rest in Peace and Athma attain Suwarkam
